The Hampden Township Veterans Recognition Committee has established a Scholarship Program for the purpose of awarding an individual who plans to enter an accredited college, university, or trade school in the school year 2016-2017, a onetime scholarship, in the amount of $1,000. The applicant must meet all conditions established by the Scholarship Program as set forth in its Rules and Regulations governing the award, explained in the attached application.

Prerequisite: The applicant must be a resident of Hampden Township, Cumberland County, Pennsylvania and meet at minimum one of the three criteria below:

1. Be a son or daughter of a parent who served in or retired from the Armed Forces, or who is currently on active duty.

2. Be an active participant in a JROTC program for at least one school calendar year.

3. Have demonstrated through community programs, service groups, or individual volunteer efforts a commitment to honor and respect all military veterans who have served their country in time of peace or war.

The completed application must be received at the address noted in the application by Friday, March 26, 2016. Please note that your guidance office may need several days to process your transcript request. Finalists are required to attend the HTVRC meeting on April 21, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at the Hampden Township Municipal Building on the 2nd floor and make a short presentation regarding why they are the best candidate for the scholarship. We look forward to receiving your application! Gary Coburn Chairman, HTVRC
